Stand Against Racism: Happening Now!

We are blown away by the great work all of you are doing across the country during this year’s Stand Against Racism. Thank you all for your participation and engagement! Here are some updates and reminders:

  • Join our #StandAgainstRacism Twitter chat TODAY at 2:00 p.m. ET: Tweet with us today during our Twitter chat on “Expanding the Immigrant Narrative” and dialogue with fellow YWCAs, our partners, and other advocates from across the country.
  • Watch and Share our video: This year, we created a video that shares the lived experiences of immigrant women in America. As you promote your events, please share this video with your networks as we raise awareness around this important issue.
  •  Watch our briefing on the Hill: Yesterday, YWCA USA kicked off Stand Against Racism with a briefing on the Hill that looked at policies and practices needed to ensure safety and economic opportunity for immigrant women. Check out the recording to hear from experts and local YWCA leaders to learn what your Members of Congress can do to help eliminate racism and support immigrant justice in your community.

  • Sign-on letter DEADLINE EXTENDED: Has your YWCA signed our network-wide letter to Congress urging them to ensure that women, children, and families can arrive and live in the U.S. without fear, harm, or discrimination? If not, there’s still time! Please join your fellow YWCAs in urging Congress to take a stand against racism. Add your YWCA by Sunday, April 28.

  • Sign the Stand Against Racism pledge: Take the Stand Against Racism pledge and encourage your friends, family, and other members of your community to do the same! The pledge is a good way to commit yourself to this important work and demonstrate the impact of this YWCA-led movement.

  • Learn more about proposed legislation and contact Congress: Read our newest fact sheet to learn about the American DREAM and Promise Act of 2019 (H.R.6), DREAM Act of 2019 (S.874), and SECURE Act (S.879) can help protect immigrant communities, including undocumented youth and those with TPS and DED status. Then take action by contacting your Representative!

  • Tag us! As you prepare for and host your wonderful Stand Against Racism events, be sure to tag @YWCAUSA on Twitter so that we can highlight and amplify your efforts. Remember to also use the hashtag #StandAgainstRacism for anything on social media related to this network-wide, national campaign!

Become a USOW Ambassador

The United State of Women (USOW) Ambassador program is an opportunity for current and future leaders who are passionate about fighting for gender equity — no matter their background or experience.
