Supermajority Launch

We are proud to support the launch of Supermajority, a new organization dedicated to building women’s power by giving women the community and tools they need to organize and ignite transformative change in 2019, 2020, and beyond. YWCA USA CEO Alejandra Y. Castillo spoke at their recent launch event in DC. Here are three things you can do now to support Supermajority:

  • Follow @supermajority on Twitter and Instagram
  • Share their video and graphics on social media
  • Share this information with your network of affiliates and partner organizations so they, too, can be a part of this launch

Planned Parenthood Chat/Text Program Partnership

We’re excited to announce that YWCA is a national partner for Planned Parenthood’s Chat/Text Program. This innovative program allows young people and adolescents to contact Planned Parenthood health educators through text or instant messaging, to ask questions about birth control, emergency contraception, STD testing, pregnancy testing, or abortion. With our partnership, young people can now access this live chat function directly from YWCA’s website. Please share this new resource with your staff, volunteers, clients, and networks.

Stand Against Racism: Thank You!

Thank you for your great efforts and leadership in this year’s Stand Against Racism campaign! Your events were incredibly thoughtful and engaging, and it was inspiring to see the impact and reach of our collective efforts. It was truly a testament to our movement’s commitment to eliminating racism and empowering women.

  • Our National Impact: From Kansas to Alaska, from Washington to North Carolina, local YWCAs, businesses, schools, nonprofits, and others community groups across the country came together to educate, advocate, and fight for racial justice. We were also pleased to have the support of a number of national partners, including Coalition on Human Needs, Justice for Migrant Women, and Tahirih Justice Center.
  • Bringing Our Expertise to the Hill: YWCA USA held a Stand Against Racism policy briefing on ensuring safety and opportunity for immigrant women, featuring a fantastic panel of experts. If you missed it, you can watch our highlight video, watch a recording of the entire panel, and read our event recap
  • Holding Dialogue with Our Peers: Thank you for joining us for our Stand Against Racism Twitter chat. YWCAs from across the country, advocates, national partners, and a number of other national organizations engaged in a thoughtful online conversation about expanding the immigrant narrative.
  • Sharing Personal Stories: If you haven’t yet done so, please check out and share our SAR video featuring immigrant women leaders from our community, sharing their personal stories, current immigration issues, and what it means to them to be an immigrant in the U.S.

Again, thank you very much for your support, partnership, and leadership in this annual campaign, and for taking the time to hold space for these important conversations around immigration and racial justice. Moreover, we thank you for your tireless work year-round to support immigrant women and families, fight xenophobia and bigotry, and end racial injustice.
