Rep. Lois Frankel at YWCA Palm Beach County
YWCA Palm Beach County hosted Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL-21) for a press conference at their child development center on Monday, May 13, where she announced that the House of Representatives included a $1.5 billion funding increase for Head Start and over $10 billion in other child care programs in the Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations Bill. Rep. Frankel also visited the YWCA child care center and read a story to the children. Planned Parenthood Chat/Text Program Partnership

In case you missed it, YWCA is now a national partner for Planned Parenthood’s Chat/Text Program, an innovative program allows young people and adolescents to contact health educators through text or instant messaging, to ask questions about birth control, emergency contraception, STD testing, pregnancy testing, or abortion. With our partnership, young people can now access this live chat function directly from YWCA’s website. Please share this new resource with your staff, volunteers, clients, and networks. If you have any questions or are interested in connecting further with Planned Parenthood Federation of America about this program, please email YWCA USA Communications

Communications Webinar

Thank you everyone who attended our Communications webinar on May 15 about creating videos on your smartphone, featuring Kim Foley, founder of Smartphone Video Production Academy. If you missed it, you can check out a recording of the webinar. We’re pleased to also share a few helpful resources from Kim, including a video checklist, list of music clips, and a video project worksheet. Please email communications@ywca.org if you have any additional questions from the webinar.

If you’d like to learn more and develop your video skills further, attend Kim’s session at the National Conference, which will go more in-depth about many of the topics she touched on in our recent webinar.
