SUBJECT: Scholarship to Join YWCA USA in Thailand: May 29 Deadline
Dear YWCA Leaders,
YWCA USA is excited to announce a scholarship program for attendance at the World YWCA Quadrennial Council meeting in October 2015, using endowment funds that are restricted for this very purpose. The World YWCA Council is the largest gathering of YWCA members from around the world. It is a time for membership engagement, decision-making, reflections, and networking.
Six scholarships will be awarded, up to $5,000 each, to individuals that are formally affiliated with YWCA USA, as a staff member or volunteer. At least two of the scholarships will be awarded to women under the age of 30 at the time of the World YWCA Council. The scholarship process is competitive and recipients will be selected by the Global Relations Committee of the YWCA USA Board of Directors.
World YWCA Council 2015 will take place in Bangkok, Thailand from October 11 to 16, 2015 (dates do not include pre-Council sessions or travel time).
Eligibility Requirements for Scholarship Applicants:
- A formal endorsement from a YWCA local association or the World Service Council and have an active relationship with that entity and an endorsement at the time of application and at the time of the event
- A valid and current passport
- The ability to travel internationally during the approximate dates of October 9 through October 17
- Submission of a fully completed application, including the essay questions, and the requested additional documents, by the application deadline
Competitive Process for Scholarship:
Applications will be accepted until May 29, 2015 by the members of the Global Relations Committee of the YWCA USA Board of Directors. The committee members will review the applications and notify the grantees by June 15, 2015. To review the entire application, click here.
