SUBJECT: Kicking-Off Women’s History Month

Dear YWCA Leaders,

To kick-off Women’s History Month, which starts tomorrow, we want to share two exciting ways you can promote and support women and girls.

Huffington Post and Facebook’s “Talk to Me”

Huffington Post and Facebook are launching “Talk to Me,” a project that features videos of intergenerational conversations — and YWCA has been invited to contribute! For a “Talk to Me” video, kids talk with their parents or guardians about their experiences and life lessons. Given our mission, YWCA participants have been asked to film a 3-to-5 minute video about these general topics as well as empowerment of women and girls.

You won’t need a lot of equipment or resources to participate! You can shoot the video on your phone or computer. Videos must be submitted directly to Huffington Post by March 7 and also uploaded to your Facebook page. Read the full details, including how to submit videos and suggested questions for your video dialogue.

National Week at the Labs

Today marks the start of the National Week at the Labs, created by the White House in coordination with the White House Council on Women and Girls and the My Brother’s Keeper Task Force to encourage young girls and boys to enter STEM fields. They’re welcoming groups around the country to participate, whether by visiting labs or doing other activities like hosting STEM mentoring events. If your local association works on STEM issues and you think you might want to join in, download the toolkit provided by the White House to get some ideas.

We hope you will participate in these fun projects! Please let us know if you send a video to Huffington Post or if you do a National Week at the Labs event so we can share on our social media channels.

Sincerely,

YWCA USA Communications
