SUBJECT: Remembering Glendora Putnam

Dear YWCA Leaders,

We’re writing to inform you of the passing of Glendora Putnam, a true trailblazer in the YWCA movement. Ms. Putnam had numerous achievements and acts of service in her lifetime including serving as president of the YWCA USA board of directors, completing law school in 1948 (a time when few African Americans and few women had access to that level of education), and enjoying an impressive career in government.

To learn more about this incredible leader, read this blog post about her life and legacy. We especially recommend watching this inspiring video of Ms. Putnam accepting the Sandra B. Henriquez Racial Justice Award at YWCA Boston in 2013.

Sincerely,

YWCA USA Communications
