SUBJECT: Model Program Submission Process


Dear YWCA Leaders,

Model programs are a key component of YWCA’s Mission Impact Framework (MIF) introduced in June of 2015 during the Biennial Conference. In an effort to support local associations during the implementation phase of the MIF, YWCA USA will be offering this suite of optional programs to our members. Each model program will align with, at least one of, our three signature platforms and corresponding outcomes. To review the FAQ document about the Mission Impact Framework, click here.

As promised at the 2016 Leadership and Capacity Building Institute, YWCA local associations are invited to submit a program, event or other initiative for consideration and adoption as a YWCA model program.

All submissions must meet the following criteria

Be research and evidence based
  • Grounded in relevant research findings (2006 - present)
  • Fulfill a documented need or leverage a unique opportunity related to national or regional reports, surveys, guidance, etc.
    • Non-profit sector
    • Direct services
    • Advocacy and public policy
    • Race or gender equity
    • Government agencies
    • Professional organizations
Fulfill a documented need or leverage a unique opportunity related to YWCA USA network data and metrics
  • Annual profile survey
  • Services satisfaction survey
  • YWCA association self-assessment
  • Incorporates existing or emerging industry standards
    • Established best practices
    • Emerging or promising practices

Explicitly align with (at least) one signature platform and its related signature outcome

  • Racial Justice and Civil Rights
    • To increase the equal protections and equal opportunities of people of color
  • Empowerment and Economic Advancement of Women and Girls
    • To increase economic opportunities for women and girls of color
  • Health and Safety of Women and Girls
    • To improve the health and safety of women and girls of color

Related to, at least one of, YWCA’s three commitments

  • Leadership development
  • Young women and girls
  • Global women and girl’s issues

Able to be reasonably replicated and scaled across the YWCA network

  • Able to be customized to YWCA’s brand
  • Affordable and manageable regardless of association budget size
  • Applicable to associations within or across various service contexts
    • Geographic or regional
    • Population demographics
    • Age
    • Race and ethnicity
    • Social and economic status
    • Urban, suburban, or rural communities

Submission Process & Materials

  1. Complete the online application
  2. Submit all supporting materials to: MissionImpact@ywca.org.
  3. Support materials include:
    1. Cover letter signed by the CEO/ED and the Board Chair
      1. Why do you think this program will make a good model program for the YWCA network?
      2. How does this program align with one or more signature platforms and outcomes?
      3. What are the key indicators of success for this program?
      4. Is your success with this program specific to: resources primarily available in your region/locality or the size and capacity of your organization?
    2. Copy of the current program curriculum
    3. Report on program outcomes and impacts for the two most recent program cycles
    4. Bibliography of research and other data that inform the design and implementation of this program
    5. Program budget actuals for the two most recent program cycles
