SUBJECT: Week Without Violence 2016

Dear YWCA Leader,

We are so excited to work with you on another impactful Week Without Violence. The 2016 Week Without Violence will take place from October 17 – 21. This year, we are proud to broaden our focus to a fuller spectrum of gender-based violence. In addition, we will have new features, tools, and support to help with your campaign:

  • New campaign website
  • Registration and toolkit for YWCAs (and a sign up for individuals and other partners to get involved)
  • New and improved Week Without Violence logo
  • Social media guide
  • Backgrounders
  • And other tools to support your work!

You can register today for the Week Without Violence Orientation webinar on Wednesday September 7, 2016. In this webinar, we will walk you through the registration process, toolkit, branding, and other key elements of the campaign.

To help get our message out to partners, policymakers, press, and other stakeholders, please make use of this updated Week Without Violence boilerplate language:

YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. That's why for more than 20 years, we have set aside one week in October as a Week Without Violence. Week Without Violence is part of a global movement to end violence against women and girls with the World YWCA. This year, we are focusing on ending gender-based violence. Gender-based violence recognizes a spectrum of violence, including but not limited to, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and harassment. At YWCA, we know that not all violence is acknowledged or responded to equally and that some victims go unrecognized altogether. We invite you to join us from October 17 – 21 as we share information, elevate stories, talk with policymakers, and get out the vote with a common goal in mind: together, we can end gender-based violence.

Please contact weekwithoutviolence@ywca.org with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

YWCA USA Communications
