SUBJECT: Success! Week Without Violence
Dear YWCA Leaders,
Last week you held 184 events in 40 states and Washington, D.C.! We are thrilled that 124 YWCAs participated in this incredible effort.
As we prepare for next year, your feedback is important to us. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey and share your event photos with us at WeekWithoutViolence@ywca.org. The deadline for this survey is November 15.
Our digital presence could not be ignored last week when #WorkAgainstViolence trended in Washington, D.C. and YWCA associations, staff, and other stakeholders took to their keyboards to help educate, advocate, and offer support – a special thank you to the YWCAs who contributed to our Why We Work Against Violence video and those who submitted blogs. These contributions truly help us showcase the movement. See a recap of the week on the Week Without Violence campaign site.
On the advocacy front, 249 actions were taken to support the SAFE Act and 79 to support the Protecting Domestic Violence and Stalking Victims Act. Given such outstanding Week Without Violence participation, we'd like to see an even greater impact. As Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to close, please take this opportunity to share these action items with your network. Tell Congress: victims of domestic violence and sexual assault can’t wait!
Regardless of whether you participated in Week Without Violence, we urge you to take action
We hope that Week Without Violence serves as a reminder that as you work to end violence in your communities, you're not in this work alone - you are part of an important global movement for women and girls.
Sincerely,
YWCA USA Communications
