SUBJECT: REMINDER - Legislative Priorities Survey

Dear YWCA Leaders,

The YWCA 2016 Legislative Priorities Survey is open until November 15 for your input! Thank you to the 25 local associations who have already completed the survey. We look forward to the input from all local associations as we set our national policy priorities for the upcoming Congress.

If you have any questions please contact Jessica Pinckney, Government Relations Manager, at advocacy@ywca.org.

About the Legislative Priorities Survey:

Every two years we look to your feedback as we evaluate and set priorities for the next Congress. We combine your input with the latest policy research and best strategy given the political landscape to define our priorities for the next two years. We want to have a real impact on the issues that will make a difference in our communities, and your input is critical in this process!

We have intentionally designed this survey to align with YWCA’s Mission Impact Framework and signature outcomes. The survey has been broken down into three parts:

  1. Legislative priorities: Tell us which policy issues are most pressing for your communities.
  2. Advocacy questions: We want to know about the great advocacy work your local associations are already doing. This year’s Legislative Priorities Survey includes the advocacy questions that were previously part of the Biennial Local Association Profile Survey. These questions will not be repeated in the 2017 biennial survey.
  3. Capacity and needs assessment: We want to know about any challenges you might be facing in your advocacy work, and how YWCA USA can best support your advocacy efforts.

Data from this survey will be used to:

  • Help set advocacy priorities for the 115th Congress
  • Gain insight regarding the on-going advocacy work of local associations
  • Designate advocacy-related capacity-building priorities
  • Harness our collective power to advance the mission of the YWCA!

The survey should take approximately 30 minutes to complete, and your response is vital data that will inform the policy priorities for the two years (2017-2018) that are served by the 115th Congress. Please note that only one survey should be submitted per local association. We encourage you to talk with your direct service staff, board members, volunteers, and clients as you respond to the survey. You can review and share a PDF of the survey in advance of filling it out online. The survey deadline is November 15, 2016.
