SUBJECT: Washington, DC Women's March: Gathering for Justice
Dear YWCA Leaders,
We know that many of you have seen our prior updates regarding the post-inauguration women's march, now called the Gathering for Justice, but still have outstanding questions. We understand that there is still a lack of clarity about this event, and we are working to get the answers to your questions.
We are in meetings with national organizers and we will to share information with you as we receive it – especially as it relates to issues of inclusiveness and safety. At this time there is still much left unknown. Please note, the organizers have yet to be granted a permit for the event.
For those who plan to participate, we have created a closed Facebook group where you can coordinate with one another.
To join the group:
- Submit this short online form to receive the link to the closed Facebook group.
- Click the link to go to the Facebook group and request to join (click the "Join Group" button). YWCA USA will respond to your request within 48 hours.
We recognize that not everyone is on Facebook, and we will continue to share updates via memo, but we recommend that those who plan to attend designate one point of contact from your YWCA to participate in this digital forum.
As the event gets closer, we will provide talking points and overall guidance about representing our network at this event. We will also identify a spot for YWCA attendees to meet up before the March. We anticipate that this will be a large gathering of women in the United States Capital and we want to equip those interested in attending with as much information as we can.
Please direct any questions about this event to Kelli Shewmaker.
Thank you,
YWCA USA Mission Impact
