Dear YWCA Leaders,
We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to each of you who took the time to voice your concerns regarding the YWCA USA Board's initial decision about participation in the Women's March. We certainly appreciate you sharing your perspective and we also respect your candor.
Based on your input and further information we have been able to gather from the march organizers, we are pleased to let you know that YWCA USA will now move forward and join as a partner in the Women's March scheduled for January 21, 2017. It is important to note that it was not until yesterday, January 13, 2017, that we received information provided by the march organizers that addressed concerns and questions we raised very early on in our consideration of this matter.
As with any challenging decision, it is our responsibility as a Board to do due diligence before taking actions that could impact our organization and mission and most importantly, the women, girls and families we serve.
We want you to know that we hear and fully respect the interests and concerns of our local association members. We are delighted that we were able to reach a mutually acceptable decision on this important event for our community.
