SUBJECT: Important Women's March Information

Dear YWCA Leaders,

We are just a few days out from the Women's March this Saturday, and we want to make sure you have all of the information you need! As you already know, YWCA USA is now an official partner of the march, and as such, we are happy to provide an even greater level of support.

Meet-up and Coordination Details

We are happy to collaborate with YWCA National Capitol Area and join them at 550 C St SW #100, Washington, DC 20024. This is near L'Enfant Plaza and Federal Center SW metro stops. All YWCA-affiliated marchers are invited and encouraged to meet us at this location beginning at 8:30 a.m. to pick up signage and convene as a group. We will also make every effort to depart as a group for the rally at 9:30 a.m. YWCA National Capitol Area and YWCA USA staff and volunteers will be available to help with navigation. Please note: this is a change from the time and location we originally released.

Any marchers with disabilities who would like assistance can check in at 4th Street SW and Independence Avenue.

We are also pleased to announce that we have secured a photographer to join us for most of the day. If you would not like to be photographed, please let the photographer know on site. If you would like your group to be included in photos, please be sure to join us at the meet-up location.

All YWCA attendees are encouraged to join the YWCA Marches "GroupMe" text messaging group. You can begin by using this link to set up an account and join the group chat. In this group, you will be able to talk with all other YWCA marchers, ask questions, coordinate regarding time and location should you lose the group, and share your photos. This will be our primary means of communication on Saturday.

In the meantime, please continue to use the Facebook group to share information. If you haven't signed up, just use this short online form to do so.

Communications Information

In addition to signage and buttons which will be available at the meet-up location, those who are participating in sister marches are welcome to download and print these signs which will be available for future use on the brand center. We recognize that our network is diverse and those marching will have a variety of different perspectives, but as much as possible we aim to showcase our shared mission.

YWCA USA has also shared a press release yesterday announcing our partnership with the Women's March and with the Day 2 training event. Please feel free to use this as a sample for your own local or regional media or to share this release with your networks.

In addition, we strongly encourage you to use social media to document your participation in the march and to share information about YWCA and our mission. We suggest using #WomensMarch and #WhyIMarch whenever possible to ensure you are a part of the larger conversation. If you would like to use Twitter to chat with your fellow YWCA marchers, you can also use #YWCAmarches.

Logistics and Safety Information

In the unlikely event that there is a crisis that prohibits travel out of the city, YWCA-affiliated marchers can meet at the YWCA USA office at 1020 19th Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20036. If no one from YWCA USA is yet available to let you in, there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby to sit and wait.

Please take general health and safety precautions throughout the day, taking into account fluctuating weather in the Capitol, standing for long periods of time, hunger, dehydration, access to restrooms, and access to outlets. We found this article especially helpful in planning for the day as well as this map of places you can charge your phone and use the restroom.

The march organizers are taking every possible precaution to ensure safety. As such, backpacks and signs on sticks are prohibited, along with a variety of other items. Please take the time to carefully read through these helpful FAQ documents.

In addition to the information available on the Women's March website, an app has been developed which includes helpful information such as metro maps, schedules, and more. This is a great way to stay informed in real time about the plans for the day. The app is called "Women's March on Washington" and can be easily found by searching the app store on your smart phone

Please be sure to let us know whether you plan to participate here in Washington, D.C. or elsewhere and how many people are joining you. Please direct any questions to Danielle Marse-Kapr, Communications and Marketing Director.

Sincerely,

YWCA USA Communications
