SUBJECT: Exciting Fundraising News!
Dear YWCA Leaders,
Over the past ten months, we have worked aggressively to pursue national partnerships that will yield much needed financial support for local YWCA programs and initiatives.
We have some wonderful news to share! We are still shaping the partnership agreements and anticipate hosting calls in early March to share additional information and to answer questions.
Allstate Commits $250,000
Allstate Foundation renewed their commitment of $50,000 to the 2017 YWCA National Conference. In addition, the Allstate Foundation awarded YWCA USA $200,000 for a state expansion program. Specifically, the Allstate Foundation's Moving Ahead Financial Empowerment Grant Program will award grants ranging from $25,000 to $50,000 (in select states) to make a real impact for communities by helping develop and enhance programs that address the economic concerns of domestic violence survivors. Currently, YWCA Greater Lawrence and YWCA Western Massachusetts have each received $25,000 and YWCA Kauai received $50,000. The remaining $100,000 will be awarded based upon Allstate's geographic interest. If your local association is eligible, we will contact you to further discuss. Learn more about the Allstate Foundation.
Centene Corporation Commits $975,000
With support and cultivation from YWCA National Capital Area, Centene Corporation awarded YWCA USA $975,000 over a three-year period for the development of a new program to teach teenage girls mindfulness and skills for emotional regulation. The first year of the partnership will heavily focus on program development and intense infrastructure development. Learn more about Centene Corporation.
YWCA USA Selected as Charity of Choice for Nordstrom
Through a competitive process, YWCA USA was selected as the USA charity of choice (along with five associations in Canada) of Treasure&Bond, a Nordstrom give-back brand that will yield 2.5% of net sales from February 1, 2017 to January 31, 2018. An expected 70% of the funds will be sub-granted to local associations within local communities and markets as defined by Nordstrom. YWCA will receive visibility in 349 stores within 40 states, as well as spotlights in more than 1 million catalogues and prominent references on the Nordstrom intranet. Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and Canada were selected last year. Since 2014, Nordstrom has awarded more than $1.5 million through this program. Next week, Nordstrom will disseminate a press release. However, we are still in the process of finalizing the terms. As information is finalized, we will certainly share more details. Learn more about Treasure&Bond and NordstromCares.
Please direct questions to Tycely Williams, YWCA USA Vice President of Development. She can be reached at twilliams@ywca.org or 202-286-1845. We look forward to sharing more information in early March.
Sincerely,
YWCA USA Development Team
