March 2017

Dear YWCA Leader,

Over the past two weeks, we held our final Geo-Network Meeting, joined our friends from around the world at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, and opened registration for our upcoming YWCA USA National Conference. Read more highlights below!

  • Our board of directors has released this memo as an update on their process for recruiting the next CEO.
  • This year's nomination process for the YWCA USA Board of Directors is now open until April 7. More information and the nomination application form is available on the intranet. Contact boardnominations@ywca.org with questions or to submit an application for nomination.
  • The FY18 budget priorities were released yesterday. Read our press statement and analysis.
  • YWCA USA opposes the American Healthcare Act. Read the statement we issued in response to the Congressional Budget Office's analysis and join us in taking action.
  • Read the latest bi-weekly policy update.
  • YWCA 101, an introductory webinar to YWCA USA, will be offered March 28, and April 25. Register your staff, volunteers and board!
  • Early bird registration is open until April 4. Don't miss the reduced rate. Register now!
  • Don't miss the 13 new YWCA mission, fundraising, staffing, collaboration, advocacy and promotion resources in the YWCA USA resource library. Included are forecasts of federal impact investment policies and 2017's philanthropic trends. View the new postings! If you need assistance, contact Martha Breunig.
  • Association Excellence Awards are open! Winners in Racial Justice, Women's Empowerment and Advocacy will be announced at YWCA USA Women of Distinction Gala on June 16. Learn more.
  • Register today for the Stand Against Racism orientation webinar on April 3 – and register for Stand Against Racism to gain access to a digital toolkit.
  • The memo we released on Monday included an incorrect date. Please see the updated memo and note that local associations who meet the support fee requirement by January 31, 2017 (not 2016 as the memo stated) will be eligible for the conference travel stipend.
Over 250 YWCA local association leaders from nearly 150 local associations participated in the Geo-Network Meetings we have held over the past few weeks. These meetings focused on a lively, thoughtful data collection process to inform our network-wide strategic planning process. This data will be shared when finalized. Materials used in each meeting can be accessed now by going to the geo-network landing page. Any YWCA that was unable to attend the meetings, has received an online survey to provide feedback by Wednesday, March 22. Contact your director of member services with questions.
