We are pleased to share the following YWCA USA updates.
World YWCA Internship – Update!
Applications from girls in the US are now being accepted! Since last week's announcement, the requirements have changed and applicants from all countries are now eligible to apply. To receive YWCA USA endorsement, applicants for the one-year internships must submit the application form and other required materials to Kelli Shewmaker, senior administrative assistant at YWCA USA, no later than 5pm Eastern on August 4, 2017. Applicants for the short-term internships must submit materials to YWCA USA no later than 5pm Eastern on Friday, October 13, 2017. Please note: YWCA USA deadlines are earlier than the World YWCA deadlines listed on their website. Applications will be considered for endorsement by YWCA USA's Global Relations Committee of the Board of Directors.
Protect Healthcare
Take action today and urge your senator to protect access to affordable, quality care and read our statement on Senator McConnell's proposed legislation. Read our latest blog post, "Lack of Healthcare Limits Women's Choices," written by our senior policy analyst Caitlin Lowry, along with our government relations manager Jessica Pinckney.
Campus Sexual Assault Statement
On Wednesday, we released a statement responding to comments about campus sexual assault by Candice Jackson, the acting head of the Education Department's Office for Civil Rights.
F18 Support Fees
Reminder that the deadline to complete your FY18 support fee paperwork and upload your documents is July 19. If you did not receive the information, you can find everything you need on the Support Fees webpage including the EFT form. This year there are benefits for those completing the process on time. If you have any questions, contact SupportFees@ywca.org or (202) 835-2353.
YWCA Blogs
Do you have a story about how the ACA impacted your life? Or why you believe it is crucial to uphold Title IX? Or how an empowerment and leadership program at a local YWCA made a difference in the lives of young women and girls in your community? Submit a blog post about it! We love to showcase your stories and your voices. Special consideration will be given to blogs that align with our Mission Impact Framework and policy priorities, and those that highlight personal narratives from staff or YWCA participants.
