Please see the following YWCA USA updates.

Joy Hashimoto: A Woman Unafraid

The YWCA movement said goodbye to one of our longest-serving members this week, Joy Hashimoto. Joy was a true advocate and a vital member of our World Service Council. Learn more about Joy's incredible legacy on our blog.

YWCA USA in the News

Caitlin Lowry, senior policy analyst, and Jessica Pinckney, government relations manager, co-wrote this excellent piece for Women's E-News about the ways health care impacts women's choices and freedom.

Public Policy and Advocacy Update

Please read the most recent policy update to get the latest on what's happening on Capitol Hill. Past policy updates are archived on the intranet.

Ryan Blueprint Budget Statement

Earlier this week we released a statement reacting to Speaker Ryan's FY2018 budget proposal.

State Pilot Project: Racial Justice Training

Last week in New Orleans, our state pilot cohort gathered for the first time for a two-and-a-half-day racial justice training. YWCAs from California, Michigan and North Carolina explored the history of race and racism in the United States, particularly as it pertains to the criminalization of people of color; learned more about YWCA's own racial justice history; and gained tools to begin developing state-level advocacy strategies. Stay tuned for updates on their individual campaigns and state-level resources and tools that your YWCA can use. See photos from the training.

Purple Purse

The deadline to apply for the 2017 Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge is quickly approaching. Don't miss out! Apply here. The Allstate Foundation wants to make this the most successful Purple Purse Challenge yet, so they're excited to share that: Community Partners will compete for a total of $700,000 in incentive funding; the CrowdRise platform fees are covered for Purple Purse Challenge donations; Community Partners will compete in two separate divisions based on budget; and ongoing fundraising and campaign support will be provided to Community Partners. We hope you'll join the challenge! Together, we can help more survivors take control of their finances and break the cycle of abuse.
