We are pleased to share the following YWCA USA updates:
Defend DACA
Threats to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program have ramped up over recent weeks, as the Texas attorney general and nine other attorneys general have issued a letter to the federal government calling for the phase out of DACA by September 5. This week, news reports have indicated that President Trump is seriously considering putting an end to the program.
Take action TODAY to defend DACA and the over 800,000 immigrant youth who could potentially be deported if DACA is eliminated. Show your support for DACA on social media using the hashtag #DefendDACA. You can view sample tweets and graphics here.
Women's Equality Day
Join us at 3 p.m. ET this afternoon for a Facebook Live event hosted by the United State of Women. Alicia Sanchez Gill, YWCA USA director of research and evaluation, will discuss the 19th amendment, voting rights, and the work women of color have done to ensure all women have access to the vote. Afterwards, swing by the United State of Women's Instagram story to get a tour of our offices, including a brief photo history of our movement.
