Weekly-Wrap up is on a mission

September 8, 2017

We are pleased to share the following YWCA USA updates:

Special Policy Update: DACA

Please see this special policy update that was released Wednesday to brief advocacy points of contact on the status of DACA.

YWCA USA Statements

In the past week, we have issued statements responding to President Trump's announcement that he plans to end DACA and Secretary Betsy DeVos' plan to rollback Title IX protections. To stay up-to-date with all YWCA USA statements, follow us on social media on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Read all statements on our website.

**Correction: an earlier DACA statement included incorrect information about the proportion of women receiving DACA services. Our statement stated that two thirds of DACA recipients are women, the number is closer to half.

National Voter Registration Day

Join YWCAs across the country and 1,800 community partners for National Voter Registration Day. This November, there will be local elections for county commissions, school boards, mayors, judges, bond issues, and more in all 50 states. These elections have major impacts on people's day-to-day lives. We need you to help ensure that the women, girls, and the communities we serve are registered and empowered to vote.

Week Without Violence

Watch your inboxes early next week for registration information for Week Without Violence. We are so excited for this year's campaign and look forward to sharing a refreshed website, robust toolkit, an online store, and plenty of great resources with you! Please note that we are pleased to open Week Without Violence to the public this year, similar to the way we structure Stand Against Racism. Save the date now for a YWCA-only orientation webinar on Thursday, September 28 at 2 p.m. ET.

Geo-Network Meetings

For FY18, geo-network meetings will be held in conjunction with YWCA USA board meetings, at different times throughout the year. The first 2017-18 geo-network meeting will be held in Seattle for the Western Network from October 31 to November 1. Registration information for this meeting will be posted online Monday, September 11. Additional geo-network meetings will be scheduled at the same time as the March and August board meetings. Further information on those meetings including location and dates will be available later this fall as it becomes available. Contact your director of member services with additional questions.

Congratulations to the 2017 Purse Purple Participants

We are excited to have 35 local associations participating in the Purple Purse Challenge this year. Together, we can help more survivors take back control of their finances and break the cycle of abuse!
