SUBJECT: Special Communication: Women’s March Events
Dear YWCA Leaders,
One year ago, we joined with millions of women around the world to stand up for gender equity and justice for all at the advent of the Women’s March movement. We helped train hundreds of advocates at the Women’s March Day Two event and were proud to showcase YWCA’s work at the October Women’s March convening.
Today, we are excited to announce that we are an official sponsor of the newly announced Women’s March #PowerToThePolls campaign which kicks off this weekend in Las Vegas and includes sister events across the country. YWCA USA CEO, Alejandra Y. Castillo will speak at Sunday’s rally. YWCA’s sponsorship extends throughout the year to support Power to the Polls rallies and voter registration drives in targeted states to be announced by the Women’s March.
We are thrilled to see such deep alignment with the civic engagement goals of this campaign and the theme for the 2018 Stand Against Racism: Our Power, Our Mission, Our Future. In addition, as we celebrate our 160th year of service and action, we see this is as a wonderful opportunity to highlight our rich history as well as your incredible work on the ground.
Here is some information of possible interest:
- Find an anniversary event near you using this map.
- If you’re in California, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, or New Mexico, find just-released info about transportation to the Vegas kickoff.
- Download and print YWCA-branded signs to bring to any events you might attend. We encourage you to use a local printer for the best results.
- Refresh your knowledge about permissible 501(c)(3) voter registration and GOTV activities with these resources from NonProfit Vote. The Power to the Polls campaign will provide year-long opportunities for robust nonpartisan activities.
- Use this weekend as an opportunity to promote your Stand Against Racism events. Bring copies of the editable flyers in your digital toolkit to hand out.
- Join us this week on social media as we highlight the critical difference civic engagement can make on the issues that matter most to our communities. Follow along using #PowerToThePolls and #YourSay.
Please let us know if you are participating in an event this weekend by emailing Samantha Davis, field engagement manager. We look forward to supporting your efforts.
Sincerely,
YWCA USA Communications
