Two Media Opportunities
If you or a participant in one of your programs is interested in either of these media opportunities, please contact Danielle Marse-Kapr, communications and marketing director:
- New York Magazine is putting together a project on workplace sexual harassment and assault in industries that haven't been spotlighted as part of the post-Weinstein #MeToo conversation. They’re particularly interested in hearing from women in male-dominated fields, and especially women who don't live in New York City.
- Little Things has approached is interested in talking with YWCA staff or volunteers for a new series called "Breaking Bread." This is a story/human-based show in the same vein as Humans of New York and will be shot in New York. They are not looking for hard-hitting subject matter, but are more focused on the personal element of how people came to be involved with this work.
STEM Opportunity for Youth
YWCA youth are invited to enroll in the 2018 Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge – the nation’s premier science competition for students in grades 5-8 – for the chance to win up to $25,000.
Federal Budget
The FY2019 federal budget proposed this week by President Trump would deeply cut spending for Non-Defense Discretionary Programs in 2019 and beyond, and differs significantly from the recently agreed to bipartisan budget deal. Learn more and review this chart.
