Please see the following YWCA USA updates:
United State of Women
We are excited to announce that we are community partners of the second United State of Women (USOW) summit in Los Angeles on May 5 and 6. There we will connect with 5,000 others committed to finding solutions to gender inequality. We encourage you to get involved online or in-person. Here are some quick options for sharing:
United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW)
YWCA USA is preparing to send a delegation to UNCSW in just over a week. UNCSW will be held in New York City on March 12 - 23. This year’s priority theme is “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls.” Six delegates were selected earlier this year by members of the Global Relations Committee of the board of directors, and the delegates represent local associations from six states with expertise in serving women from rural communities. To kick off UNCSW, we’re hosting our annual reception to welcome YWCA delegates from around the world. If you’re able to join us at the reception in New York City on Sunday, March 11, please RSVP. You can read more about YWCA USA’s delegation to UNCSW here.
Voting and Civic Engagement
As we celebrate our 160th year, we are reminded about the vital role that voting and civic engagement has played in our fight to eliminate racism and empower women. Mid-term elections will be held in 2018 and we want to honor the history of our movement and leverage our collective power by launching a national get out the vote initiative. In the coming weeks, we will roll out more information about this initiative, but in the meantime, we need you to take these three easy steps:
- Sign up for Stand Against Racism! This year we are focused on civic engagement. Our theme is Our Power, Our Mission, Our Future. This is a great opportunity to begin your local GOTV initiatives, and to promote the full spectrum of civic engagement.
- Please help us build our national communications list by ensuring your staff, board, volunteers, program participants and community members are signed up to receive YWCA USA communications. While list-building may seem boring, we are making it FUN! YWCA USA will waive the LCBI registration fee for one program staff member from the four local associations who sign up the most people between now and May 4. Sign up your stakeholders here.
- Lastly, sign up to participate in our GOTV initiative. By signing up, YWCA USA will be able to measure YWCA’s impact across the county. We will also provide tools, trainings and technical assistance to support your efforts. Sign up to participate here. Also, please join us for a webinar on March 28 at 3 p.m. EST to learn more.

Information to Share: Missing Money
YWCA National Capital Area brought our attention to MissingMoney.com, a database that enables owners to perform comprehensive searches for lost assets required by law to be turned over to the states and provinces. There are numerous YWCAs linked to unclaimed assets in the database. Please review the list of YWCAs found on the database.
New from the Resource Library
Newly posted to the YWCA Online Resource Library Reference and Contact Center is the YWCA Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment, Economic Advancement, and Leadership Development Performance Metrics Report. This report is the second in 2017’s series of Today’s YWCA Reports that present data recently gathered from all YWCAs. Each report profiles a YWCA major program area and includes service offerings, demographics, funding sources, referral channels, partnerships, curriculums, outcomes realized, and a directory to find which YWCAs are providing each service.
