Dear YWCA Leader,

We are pleased to provide the following updates:

Join Us for In-District Advocacy Day

On August 8, YWCA leaders from around the country will meet with legislators in their home districts. We’ll raise our collective voices to advance our mission-focused policy priorities, and to build support for the programs, services, and funding streams that make a difference in our communities. Review information about this year’s In-District Advocacy Day, REGISTER NOW, then join us for a webinar on July 25 from 3-4 p.m. ET to learn more about how you can take part!

Save SCOTUS: Take Action Now!

On July 9, President Trump nominated Judge Brett Kavanaugh to replace the vacant spot on the U.S. Supreme Court. Kavanaugh's record demonstrates a blatant disregard for the rights of women, workers, immigrants, and consumers. Whether you care about access to health care, voting rights, immigrant justice, reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, racial justice, workers' rights, civil rights, or criminal justice reform, the fate of them all now hang in the balance. Read our statement and take action and share this alert urging your Senators to reject the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

New Blog Posts

Read the latest YWCA USA blogs:

  • YWCA USA intern and LSU student Dominique Cravins wrote a blog about the importance of the youth vote in today’s political climate.
  • We were at Essence Festival last weekend and were thrilled to launch a partnership with their Path to Power activation. Read more about the three dynamic sessions we hosted!

Purple Purse Challenge

The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge is a great opportunity to raise funds to support your domestic violence program. YWCA Evanston/North Shore, a 2017 winner, shared their secret to success in a Money Monday presentation back on July 10, 2017. Register for the Purple Purse Intro Q&A webinar on July 19 at 3 p.m. ET. Applications are due August 1.

Resource Library

There are 22 new postings in the YWCA Online Resource Library. Postings developed for the Resource Library are tailored for YWCA use, but in addition, a YWCA Resource Roundtable link has been created to connect YWCAs with sample policies and plans developed and in use by YWCA local associations. Descriptions and links for new postings are in the New Postings Index. A desk reference guide, descriptions and live links for all resources are in the Resource Library Index.

Photos: Families Belong Together rally

A number of YWCAs from around the country joined us in Washington, D.C., for a rally demanding that this administration reunite families immediately and end family separation and detention. Photos from the day are now on our Flickr. Check them out

United State of Women Ambassador

Congratulations to our very own Desiré Bennett of YWCA Greater Cincinnati who was selected to join the inaugural class of the United State of Women Ambassador program! These Ambassadors, who represent 20 cities across the U.S., will take action to galvanize their local gender equality movement and build more equitable communities.
