We are pleased to provide the following updates:

YWCA Real Estate and Facilities Summit

Save the Date of October 2 to join us in Washington, D.C., for the YWCA Real Estte and Facilities Summit. This inaugural event kicks off efforts to address the unmet needs of YWCAs regarding their real estate and facilities, from maintenance to leasing, to financing a building to support 21st century programming and provide revenue back to the YWCA. Learn from industry experts and YWCA leaders from the trenches to find out what you need to know when considering—and leveraging—your options. Registration and additional information will be shared next week.

YWCA Opposes the Nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to SCOTUS

On August 6, YWCA USA sent a letter to members of the Senate, calling on them to vote against the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States. On core issues likely to come before the Supreme Court, Judge Kavanaugh’s record and judicial philosophy are at odds with the principled pragmatism required to make decisions that protect the people and communities we serve. Urge your Senators to vote “No” on Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination.

Join Justice Rising: Women United to Stop Kavanaugh

Next week, August 20 – 24, YWCA is co-sponsoring a Women’s Week of Action to oppose the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and to highlight the impact that he would have on a range of women’s issues. Hearings for Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation begin on September 4. We’ll be joining other women’s groups on the steps of the Supreme Court on Wednesday to speak out about how Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination is a threat to women’s ability to achieve equality in the workplace.

Join the week of action by signing on to this letter urging the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee to oppose the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. To sign on, please fill out this form by Monday, August 20, at noon.

Save the Date: Week Without Violence 2018

Mark your calendars for Week Without Violence 2018! Join us from October 15 to 19 to engage in conversations, actions, and messaging around how we can end gender-based violence in our communities. More information will be released in the upcoming weeks.

Nationwide GOTV Initiative

YWCA USA is proud to support 114 local YWCAs in our Nationwide Get Out the Vote Initiative, which aims to register and mobilize 10,000 voters across the country, engage in candidate forums, and empower voters through voter protection education efforts.

We hope everyone takes a look at our GOTV resources, and considers holding a voter registration drive during our YWCA Nationwide GOTV Week, September 1 – 10. YWCA is also a partner for this year’s National Voter Registration Day on September 25, and we encourage you to sign up to participate in this day of action, as well.

Remember: the deadline for submission is Wednesday, September 12. You can access additional information and resources on the YWCA intranet assessment landing page.
