We are pleased to provide the following updates:

YWCA Launches #YWomenVote Campaign on National Voter Registration Day

National Voter Registration Day is THIS TUESDAY – and we need YOU to help us take Twitter by storm as we launch our new #YWomenVote social media campaign! On that day, September 25 at 1:00 p.m. ET, we’ll premiere YWCA’s amazing new GOTV video (don’t worry: the video will go live that day at 1:00 p.m. ET!) and host a #YWomenVote Twitter storm from 1-2 p.m. ET. Please join us in sharing the video, and talking about the importance of voting, uplifting women, and amplifying women’s voices and concerns. Learn more about the #YWomenVote campaign and how you can engage with us on social media.

It’s not too late to do something (big or small) to empower our communities to vote. Have questions or need ideas? Email advocacy@ywca.org.

YWCA Opposes the Nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to SCOTUS

Check out the National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence’s letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee, highlighting the need to address Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s sexual assault report in a victim-centered, trauma-informed manner. YWCA USA fully supports this letter, and urges all in the YWCA network to join us in insisting that the Senate #believesurvivors, and incorporate NTF’s recommendations in the process moving forward. Please continue to take action by urging your Senators to vote “No” on Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination!

Week Without Violence 2018

The Week Without Violence shop is open. Please place your orders ASAP! We are especially excited to have new “Believe Survivors" button this year.

Please keep registering your events for this year’s Week Without Violence, taking place October 15-19! Remember: registering not only gets you access to an online toolkit, but it also populates the events map, which helps show the reach and impact of the entire YWCA network! Your event does not have to be set in stone in order to register—once you register, you can always log back in and update your event(s) details! Check out YWCA USA’s Week of Action for some ideas, and please join us for any or all of these activities!

March for Black Women

YWCA is a proud sponsor of the March for Black Women, taking place this September 29 and 30 in Washington, DC, and New York City. This march demands: A full reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA); a focus on intersectional women’s rights; and removal of the gag order on advocacy and prevention focused agencies forbidding the use of the words: transgender, fetus, vulnerable, science-based, evidenced-based, diversity, and entitlement. Learn more about this year’s march on their website!

YWCA 160th Gala

Join us as we celebrate 160 years of action, service, and impact on October 2nd at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. Please invite your legislator to the gala or ask them to make a statement on the record congratulating the YWCA. If you have talked to your legislator about attending the gala or need language for a statement on the record, reach out to our government relations manager Morgan Brand at mbrand@ywca.org.

YWCA 101

The next bi-monthly YWCA 101 webinar is on Tuesday, September 25 at 2 p.m. ET. This one-hour session provides a great background on YWCA, including our history and mission framework, our collective reach and impact, new YWCA initiatives and events, World YWCA, and the many resources available to support your work. We encourage you to send this registration link to staff and board members, especially those relatively new to YWCA.

Event Planning Software Partnership

YWCA USA is considering a national partnership for event planning software with Cvent (the company that was used for the 2018 LCBI event) for the YWCA network. However, before we do anything, we need to hear from you! We’ve put together a short survey to get a feel for your level of interest and what features you would be looking for from this kind of partnership. This survey will close on September 28 (please only one response per association).
