Weekly Wrap-up is on a missionSeptember 29, 2018

We are pleased to provide the following updates:

March for Black Women

YWCA is a proud to participate in and be a sponsor of the March for Black Women, taking place September 29 and 30 in Washington, DC, and New York City. This year’s march includes a focus on demanding a full reauthorization of VAWA. Learn more on their website.

Week Without Violence 2018

We are only 3 weeks away from this year’s Week Without Violence, taking place October 15-19. We encourage everyone to plan and register an event, to help show our collective impact and reach as an entire YWCA network. We know everyone is really busy—but remember, your event can be any size, big or small! Anything from hosting a Facebook Live conversation about how the Kavanaugh nomination process and continuing media coverage have been impacting women and survivors, to holding a safe space for survivors to share their experiences, such as a sharing circle.

#YWomenVote: What Women Want Survey Release

Last week, YWCA officially launched our #YWomenVote campaign, aimed at engaging and unifying women voters across the United States. We premiered our brand new video. This week, our #YWomenVote campaign will focus on promoting “What Women Want 2018,” YWCA’s new report that identifies top concerns and priorities of women across the United States. We’ll be officially releasing the survey at a National Press Club briefing on Monday, October 1, and will share a video recording of the event afterwards, here. Please use our new social media guide to see how you can engage in the #YWomenVote campaign this week, and help us promote the new report! To learn more about the report, join us for a webinar with the report authors on Tuesday, October 9 at 1:00 PM EST.

Real Estate & Facilities Summit / YWCA 160th Gala

We are so excited to be hosting our first ever YWCA Real Estate and Facilities Summit and 160th celebration on October 2nd. We are looking forward to having a constructive, productive summit discussing and addressing the unmet needs of YWCAs regarding their real estate facilities—this is vital to our continued work and mission. Later that evening, we are thrilled to be celebrating 160 years of action, service, and impact at the National Museum of Women in the Arts! Follow along at the hashtag #YWCA160.

New to the Resource Library

A new TechGyrls STEM curriculum, thanks to YWCA Silicon Valley, is now available for all YWCAs in the YWCA Online Resource Library. Other new and updated resources include YWCA history presentations; guides covering negotiating, major decision making, and finance reporting formats and tools; accountability checklists; business partnership development strategies; and articles covering innovative trends among nonprofits, communications, engagement and social media strategies. Descriptions and live links for new postings are in the New Postings Index. A desk reference guide, descriptions and live links for all resources are in the full Resource Library Index. Contact Martha Breunig (mbreunig@ywca.org) about any resource library holdings or needs.

GOTV Engagement Opportunity: #VoteTogether

YWCA USA is partnering with #VoteTogether, a nationwide campaign to encourage people to vote together—and have fun while doing it. The concept is simple: we encourage you to host and/or support a voting party on Election Day. Invite your friends, family, neighbors, or coworkers and help make participation a celebration. Election Day is around the corner. Sign up at votetogetherusa.org to learn more! If you have questions about hosting or finding a party in your area, please email Olivia at olivia@civicnation.org.
