2019 National Conference

We’re looking forward to seeing many of you in Washington, DC, for our national conference in less than two short weeks! For those who have registered for the conference, you should have received an email with instructions on how to download our 2019 National Conference app — this mobile app is a convenient one-stop-shop that contains all the important information you’ll need for your time in DC, including session descriptions and locations, speaker bios and headshots, maps, and lists of sponsors and nearby restaurants. You’ll also be able to use the app to connect with fellow conference attendees on social media, share photos, and more.

If you didn’t see the email, please check your spam folder. Feel free to reach out to conference@ywca.org with any questions.

Join the #IHonorMy campaign and Twitter Story Hour on May 31

During this year’s Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM), the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) and the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) have teamed up to launch the #IHonorMy digital campaign to celebrate stories, experiences, and truths of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander individuals. This campaign seeks to reclaim role that honor plays in the lives of AANHPI individuals — and how traditionally, it is intrinsically linked to shame. Instead, this campaign aims to celebrate what makes AANHPIs unique! Use this digital media toolkit  to get involved, and join the Twitter story hour on May 31 from 2 to 3 p.m. ET.

Nominate a Leader for the 2019 NGen Award

The NGen Leadership Award celebrates the accomplishments of visionary changemakers — age 40 or under — who have made a difference through innovative, collaborative leadership. Award finalists will attend Upswell Chicago this November, where they’ll have the chance to share their ideas, experiences, and expertise with changemakers from across the country. Do you know a next-generation leader who is making an incredible difference in the world? Nominate them for this award and help accelerate that leader’s career onto the national stage and beyond. Learn more and submit a nomination by June 6!

Apply for AspireIT Funding to Support Girls in STEM

The National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT)’s AspireIT is designed to teach K-12 girls programming fundamentals and computational thinking in fun, creative, and hands-on environments. Using a near-peer model, program leaders teach younger girls technology fundamentals and are supported by Partner Organizations from the NCWIT community. The relationship between AspireIT Leaders and their AspireIT Program Organizations fosters mentoring with technical professionals, increases young women’s confidence in their computing abilities, and develops valuable leadership skills.

YWCAs are invited to apply for up to $3,000 in funds to bring computer science programs for girls to your community! Applications for this AspireIT funding, for programs occurring between October 15, 2019 and June 14, 2020, are open through July 1, 2019. Visit the AspireIT Partner Organization page to learn more, and register your interest in being a partner so that potential AspireIT Leaders can connect with you.
