During YWConnect we will share details on our marketing campaign, our Census 2020 campaign, and we will review and launch YWCA University!

Fun fact: The YWCA Retirement Fund is one of the oldest pension plans in the country. It is the first pension fund for women and was incorporated in 1924, which predates Social Security. Scroll down to learn about our new Retirement Fund Executive Director.

Week Without Violence: Recap & Two Requests

Thanks again for your participation, support, and engagement last week. Together, we hosted more than 146 events at 133 YWCAs across 44 states! From local YWCAs and other community organizations, to schools and fellow national organizations, it was truly wonderful to see everyone working together to raise awareness about supporting survivors and ending sexual and domestic violence, all with a common goal in mind: together, we can one day end gender-based violence.

We enjoyed a higher engagement rate across all of our social media platforms throughout the week, reaching over 57K users on Twitter, 48K users on Facebook, 10K users on Instagram, and 10K users on LinkedIn with education surrounding gender-based violence and what we’re doing to address it. In earned media, we were interviewed on 13 major radio stations and a few podcast, and were interviewed for an article - reaching well over 1,600,000 listeners and readers across the country. To read “Guns & Domestic Violence Are Much More Lethal For Women of Color, A New Report Shows,” in Bustle click here.

We have two final #WWV19 requests for you:

If you have not yet had time, will you please register your Week Without Violence event so we can get the full scope of our national campaign?

We'd like to gather participation feedback, will you please fill out our WWV feedback survey by Friday, November 15th?

Help Send VAWA to the President’s Desk:
Join us on November 7th for a National Day of Action!

It’s been over 200 days since the House of Representatives passed the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019 (H.R. 1585) and it’s time Senators took the reauthorization of this bill seriously. That’s why we’re organizing in a national day of action to urge for the Senate to bring this bill to the floor now! Join us on November 7th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET to tell Senators that survivors and service providers can’t wait - they must reauthorize VAWA today! Look for more information on the Policy and Advocacy Intranet community soon! Not signed up? Sign up here today!

Why wait for November 7th to take action? Tell your Senator to reauthorize VAWA today!

Cybersecurity Awareness from IT Department

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness month. We want to remind everyone to be diligent with security as criminals are constantly finding new ways to breach and steal sensitive data. We encourage every association to check in with your IT provider/staff to ensure you are following the best practices.

Phishing emails are a common form of attack, where the attacker pretends to be someone else in an email message to steal funds or sensitive information. Please take a moment to review this guide on how to spot these emails.
