SAVE THE DATE — 2024 Leadership Capacity Building Institute “Mission Forward: Empowering Movement Leaders

YWCA USA is calling all leaders throughout the network to gather June 12-15, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia for the 2024 Leadership Capacity Building Insititute. We are building a robust agenda that will bring subject matter experts to engage with all leaders—Executive Leaders, Board Leaders and Mission Impact Leaders. Track-driven learning labs will focus on critical areas of impact, enhancing your knowledge base necessary for the day-to-day work. Join us for the opportunity to move the Mission Forward through trendsetting and future-forward conversations and learnings. We are also excited to highlight the work of young women in our movement as we connect who we were to who we are now and who we will be in the future. Something new for 2024 LCBI will be a celebration event honoring individual leaders from throughout the movement and our partner organizations. LCBI will begin with a Welcome Reception Wednesday evening, June 12, and close out with our Annual Business Meeting Saturday morning, June 15.
More information is forthcoming! REGISTRATION for LCBI will open in Early March 2024!

2023 YWCA National Program Inventory and Impact Survey

The 2023 YWCA National Program Inventory and Impact Survey link will be sent out to CEO/EDs Monday, Dec. 11. Our goal is 100% participation, and we are asking every Local Association to complete the survey by March 15, 2024. Your input on this survey is critical and will guide YWCA USA on how to best support the YWCA network.

For any questions about completing the questionnaire there will be a Q&A Webinar on the following days:

If you have any questions regarding the 2023 YWCA National Program Inventory and Impact and Survey, please contact your Director of Member Services.

If you experience any technical issues, please contact the Strategy, Impact, & Evaluation Team at strategyimpactevaluation@ywca.org

Join us! Equal Rights Amendment Day of Action on Wednesday, December 13

As a proud member of the national Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) coalition, YWCA will be supporting the December 13 march and day of action. The theme “Not One More Year,” marks the 100th anniversary of the introduction of the ERA to Congress.

Here’s what you can do to lend you and your association’s support:

  • Follow the march in D.C. virtually via ERA Coalition on any of the coalition’s social media accounts – X, Facebook, Instagram – and post or repost to your followers and supporters using the hashtags #ERANow and #ERA100.
  • Sign and share this supporter-facing petition asking the White House to direct the U.S. Archivist to publish the ERA.

New Challenge: Surgeon General’s call to Combat the Epidemic of Isolation and Loneliness

U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, is urging both individuals and groups to take up a new challenge, 5-for-5 Connection Challenge, which builds on Dr. Murthy’s Surgeon General’s Advisory on Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation report and the success of his recent “We Are Made to Connect” Tour at college campuses across the U.S. This challenge can help all of us foster better social connection, which is associated with improved heart and brain health, protect against depression and anxiety, and even lower the risk of premature death. Will you join us?

WHAT: Surgeon General’s 5-for-5 Connection Challenge
WHEN: Anytime between Dec. 4 and 15, 2023
WHY: To improve physical and mental health by fostering better social connection
HOW:
1. Pick five consecutive days between Dec. 4 and Dec. 15 to connect with people in your life
2. For each day, take one simple action to express gratitude, support, or to ask for help.
3. Share your reflections on what you did and how it felt on social media, tagging @Surgeon_General and using the hashtag #MadeToConnect
