YWCA USA CEO Margaret Mitchell Attends ERA 100 Year Rally this Week

On Dec. 13, Margaret Mitchell, YWCA’s USA CEO, attended the Equal Rights Amendment Rally among a coalition of women’s rights organizations to advocate and educate for sex equality. This moment marks the 100th year the Amendment has been introduced after first being introduced by Members of Congress in 1923. Listen and share Margaret Mitchell’s remarks as she shares that “the time is now” for the inclusion in our Constitution.

Not one more year can go by without this vital addition, which ensures equal rights for women and girls under the Constitution.

NEW: Child Care Resource from National Women’s Law Center

YWCA’s partners at the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) recently released this new state-by-state map showing the local impact of the Sept. 30 expiration of American Rescue Plan funds and ways states would benefit if Congress allocated $16 billion to fund child care in the budget. For each state, you’ll find the dollar amount that would be allocated and impacts for providers and children served. You can also see tracked state press around the child care battle in most states.

This resource can help you in your federal advocacy efforts around this critical issue.

Fundraising opportunity with Target Circle

We're reaching out about a great opportunity to raise funds & awareness for your local Association through the Target Circle Community Giving Program

It's free and easy to sign up to be considered for upcoming giving cycles — several local YWCA's have already participated!

We're teaming up with Simple Generosity, the organization that manages the nonprofit selections and donation distributions for Target Circle, to spread the word about this fantastic program to all of you.

Here's how it works:

  • Each quarter, Target Circle highlights 5 local nonprofits for customers to vote on and receive funding from Target
  • Simple Generosity helps select what nonprofits are featured each quarter across all of Target's retail markets, focusing on smaller organizations serving local communities
  • Nonprofits sign up to be considered for an upcoming giving cycle here on Simple Generosity's site
  • Funds are generated based on the votes each nonprofit receives and are distributed on a quarterly basis
  • Average gifts range from $1,000 - $2,000 and the awareness has been fantastic — 165 million+ votes were cast last year alone!

You can learn more and see quick visuals of the program here

Sign up today (if you haven't already) to be considered for upcoming giving cycles and join the number of YWCA's who've already benefited!

You'll be notified if you're selected. For any questions, please contact nonprofits@simplegenerosity.org.
