Weekly Wrap-up is on a mission

November 21, 2018

Dear Members of the YWCA Family,

As we prepare to welcome this holiday season, we wish you the gifts of faith—that together we will create a better world—and hope—that tomorrow will be more promising than yesterday. Your commitment and contribution to our YWCA movement not only touch the lives of over 2 million women, girls, and families each year, but you also help change the lives of the many people we serve throughout 1200 communities across our country. While our work may at times seem challenging and unending, we pursue our mission with an unparalleled sense of purpose that defines the ethos of who we are as YWCA. As we gather this week to be thankful for what we have, for the family we love, the friends we cherish, and for the joys that will come our way, please know that your tireless work makes our movement stronger, uplifts our collective voice, and validates that our mission is as important today as it was 160 years ago.

On behalf of YWCA USA, we wish you a very happy, safe and joyous Thanksgiving!

With that, here are this week’s updates:

Advocacy Actions of the Week

Join YWCA USA in strongly opposing the Department of Education’s proposed changes to Title IX regulations, which would drastically alter how schools respond to sexual harassment. The proposed rules would encourage and even require schools to ignore students who come forward with stories of sexual assault and sexual harassment to ask for help. If implemented, this attack on Title IX would make schools more dangerous for all students and especially those most marginalized, who already face immense barriers to safety on campus. Take action now by signing this letter to extend the Title IX comment period to ensure that all voices are heard in the regulation process. Stay tuned for sample comments from YWCA USA.
