Week Without Violence October 14 - 18
Podcasts for Week Without Violence
We are excited to post five special edition "Organize Your Butterflies" podcast episodes during our Week Without Violence campaign. Each episode will be around 20 minutes in length with experts joining to help educate our listeners. The five topics include:
- YWCA’s Annual Campaign to End Gender-Based Violence
- Economic Abuse - It’s More than Dollars and Cents
- Trauma Informed Care - Helping Survivors Heal
- Ensuring Safety for Immigrant Women
- Ending Gun Violence - Disarming Domestic Abusers
This free tool will be available to everyone, to use as content for a "Listen and Learn Lunch" event the week of October. We hope associations will also share these podcasts through social media or with partners in your community.

Spotlight on YWCA Boulder STEM Program Launch
YWCA Boulder County, one of the first two YWCA branches to be awarded a grant from Google to increase Black and Latina students’ access to computer science and artificial intelligence education, held their first Google JAM session on Monday to kick off the association’s STEM E3 program. “We’re thrilled to have been chosen as one of two YWCAs to launch the pilot STEM E3 program,”said Debbie Pope, CEO of YWCA Boulder County. “Having the opportunity to work with our partners at Google and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation demonstrates how collaboration leads to greater impact,” she added.

Congratulations to YWCA USA CEO Alejandra Castillo For Receiving a CHCI Medallion of Excellence!
On Thursday, Alejandra was awarded the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's 2019 Medallion of Excellence for a Distinguished Alumnus. She was honored at the CHCI Alumni Association Leadership Luncheon, where she delivered an inspiring speech. Supermajority Bur Tour Launch
On Sunday, YWCA USA CEO Alejandra Y. Castillo, YWCA of Greater Atlanta CEO Sharmen Gowens, and Stacey Abrams joined Supermajority co-founder Cecile Richards for the Supermajority bus tour kick-off in Atlanta. The bus tour centers around increasing female civic engagement and voter participation.
