December 7, 2018Alaska Earthquake: YWCA Update As you might have heard, the state of Alaska experienced a magnitude 7 earthquake last Friday, November 30. YWCA Alaska is headquartered in Anchorage, just 7 miles south of the center of the earthquake. YWCA Alaska CEO Barbara Swenson indicates that the association experienced minimal damage, but major highways in the area experienced severe damage. The YWCA itself suffered only an extended power outage from Saturday evening to Monday evening. The facility is unharmed and the staff has suffered no personal injury or extensive property damage.
